A PASSION FOR REVIVAL If you are in a room with John Burton for more than 10 minutes and you don't have a fire in your belly, I would check your pulse.

• WHAT?  - What is the "1-Question" leaders must ask in order to #ReimagineFutureChurch?

How would leadership, vision, strategic thinking and the end goals change if we defined the church on a city-level instead of the local-level?

• SO WHAT?  - What makes this an urgent need for leaders to contemplate/explore/discuss/pray into?

In Scripture, the church is defined by the city. That was it's original identity and how it was addressed. What if local churches, instead of being entities unto themselves (with occasional relational connections with other local churches in the city), what if local churches were viewed more as individual departments? Just as departments of a local church serve the overall vision of that church, in the city church model, each local church would strategically focus mostly not on their own ventures but on the mission and mandate of the greater city church.

• NOW WHAT?  - What action do you recommend we initiate?

A reformation of thinking would result in significant shift. Encouraging people in our local church to attend and serve in other churches as well is one example. It would also allow leaders to focus mostly on what they are called to do instead of trying to make their church a one-stop-shop. The need for most programs and ministries on the local level would not be needed. Redudancy would be eliminated. The challenge for leaders is to lay down personal ambition and become city-minded.

•PRAY...SO  THAT …

I pray that strategic and intentional unity would develop among local church pastors and leaders and that the mission of city-wide revival would captivate us all. Lord, I pray a pioneering spirit would rise up in us as a new expression of church and a new wine skin replaces what has been "tried and true." Give the people grace as their comfort zones are removed and the call to revolution in the church upends most of what they have known. I pray we'd remain humble and bold as we embrace a holy system that will annihilate the kingdom of darkness in regions all over the nation!
