Supporting Foster Families

Thanks to you, Meet The Need’s dedicated platform for communicating the needs of foster families to local churches is now live in 7 states. We also want to thank long-time partners like Orphan Care Alliance in Kentucky. OCA is working with Meet The Need to convene ministries to brainstorm and share best practices for reducing the unnecessarily high turnover rate of foster families across the nation. We’ve learned through these discussions, and firsthand, how little support they receive from government agencies, requiring that churches step in to fill the gaps.

Feeding the Hungry
|
Without your help, Meet The Need would not have been in a position to partner with Feeding America for the past 7 years to rescue over 2.3 billion pounds of food that would have otherwise gone to waste. Millions of families without funds to buy food were provided with meals through your generosity, as well as the hard work of over 9,000 non-profits and the financial support of Google, General Mills and Walmart. Meet The Need’s team has grown to 4 developers now working on a series of innovative hunger relief projects with Feeding America’s National Office.

Rethinking Poverty Alleviation

Handouts don’t eradicate poverty. Most actually perpetuate it. Empowering families to plot their own course to a brighter future is far more dignifying. Your donations and our partners, The Chalmers Center and Restoring Hope Roanoke, have enabled Meet The Need to reach the Beta test stage of our AI platform. After 2 ½ years of planning and development, our application will revolutionize service delivery to the materially poor – laying out the roadmap, making the connections, mobilizing the resources, and providing the hope in Christ that struggling families need to get back on their feet.
Enabling Collaborative Compassion
It’s your contributions that allow Meet The Need to serve ministries like Advancing Vibrant Communities, ESA Love INC, Feed the Bay, and Gift of Hope for so many years. Our systems allow them, and many other city movements across the country, to share opportunities to leverage the gifts and talents of church members to bless families in need of help and hope. You make it possible for Meet The Need to offer state-of-the-art local missions, volunteer recruiting, case management and event planning systems at no charge to churches, ministries and charities.
Finding Jobs for Ex-Offenders
For formerly incarcerated people, assimilation back into society and avoiding recidivism hinges largely on finding gainful employment – a daunting challenge to say the least. It’s encouraging that people like you and Christian ministries like Unite Indy are willing to confront that challenge head on, providing biblically-based job training and partnering with Meet The Need to create a job placement search engine called SecondChanceIndy.com for the 12,000 inmates being released into Marion County each year. Plans are to replicate that platform to more cities and states in the near future.

Technology does not change hearts and minds. Therefore, Meet The Need does more than build software. We are also thought leaders in how Christians, churches and ministries can increase their impact in their circles of influence. Subscriptions to our eBooks and blogs continue to increase thanks to your generous support and due to a growing recognition that it’s time to #ReimagineCompassion. Expanding Meet The Need’s Capabilities
None of this would have happened without you and our amazing staff at Meet The Need. We’ve hired several new team members over the past few months and celebrated a number of anniversaries. We thank the Lord for Rob (IT Director) and Tonya (Member Services Director), who both came on board 11 years ago. We appreciate the loyalty and hard work of Maurice and Monique, in their 9th and 8th years, respectively. We would not have been as successful at Feeding America without Andy’s excellent work over the past few years. And we welcome Francisco, Ron, John, and Kate – all relatively new here but already making important contributions.
