All these years it has never occurred to me, that the ancient monastic vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience were a direct response to the issues of money, sex, and power, until I read 'The Challenge of the Disciplined Life' by Richard J. Foster. A must read book for all those who are interested in becoming disciples of Jesus Christ.
