Friends and followers of the Christ Now family:
After the events of this past Wednesday, that IS the question of the hour.
After the brutal murder of Charlie Kirk, many are saying that America is standing at an “inflection point.” The term can be defined like this:
An inflection point, whether for one life or for a whole nation, is a significant and often irreversible moment or event that changes the trajectory or direction of everything. These moments can be positive or negative, self-imposed or imposed by outward circumstances. An inflection point often requires navigating new challenges or exploring new opportunities. Fundamentally, it alters your perspective, identity, or future path.
Will we turn back to seek a better pathway together as a nation? Will it take us toward the light and begin a whole new chapter marked by civility, openness, measured debate, willingness to listen to one another, and willingness to work together for the common good?
Are we ready to write a new script for America? Can it be built around humility, forgiveness, and compassion—by giving each other respect and the benefit of the doubt? Will we choose to fight side by side (rather than with each other) to further all forms of justice and to help lift up the poor and downtrodden?
In other words: Could this be an inflection point that brings about the inbreaking of the kingdom of God in our nation in whole new ways—flooding our people with “the extravagant dimensions of Christ’s love” so that we “Reach out and experience [its] breadth! Test its length! Plumb the depths! Rise to the heights! Live full lives, full in the fullness of God” (Ephesians 3:18-19, MSG)?
Bottom line: Have we arrived at the “watershed moment” (another phrase used by Gov. Cox) that opens the door to the unfolding of a full-blown American CHRIST Awakening? Is this the new season when God’s Spirit will bring the nation into a fresh encounter with the person and the good news of God’s Son in whom alone we can experience reconciliation, healing, wholeness, and an abounding life together—the very life of the risen, reigning Son—meant for us, for now and forever?
