The apostle Paul instructs Christians in 2 Corinthians 5:18 that God has given us the ministry of reconciliation.  Specifically in verse 20 of this same chapter, Paul, through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit says "we are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us".   Reconciliation in this portion of scripture is that of reconciling people to God.
