I was brought up in a Christian home and we had a tradition of holding hands and saying, "God is great, God is good and we thank Him for our food. By His hands, we are fed. Thank you God for daily bread. Amen."
This tradition has continued with my own children and now my grandchildren. As we gather to eat, we all hold hands and say this prayer. We do it even when we eat out.
When my husband and I eat out by ourselves, we always bless the food before we eat. We do get looks from people, but it is a powerful witness of faith to all those who see it.
Hallo Ron.
You are adressing a fragile issue here. I definitely believe we have become more invisable expressing our faith in public.
On the other hand I see a commonly use of singing Praise before meals among christians in most gatherings.
This is a valuable blessing we absolutely should not discontinue.
