I have been much alarmed over the violent, blasphemous and obscene language in books and other entertainment, on social media, in politics, and in daily conversation in these days.
Of course the problem is deeper than the coarseness of our speech. In Luke 6:45 Jesus said “The mouth speaks what the heart is full of.”
I see a lot of medical professionals in these days. I pray for each one. And I want to witness to them. Several times I have them use bad language with me. And while I continue to pray for them, I make a point not to comment on their fault language. I want my witness to be the gospel. It alone deals with the heart where the real problem lies.
While I believe God will speak to them through me, God must strike the heart. In Isaiah 6 the prophet told about God meeting him in the temple. God speaks thunderously to our hearts. Isaiah cried out,."Woe is me, for I am ruined, because I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, for I have seen the King, the Lord of Hosts."
I want to be open a to soul shaking, life changing encounters with the living God. I always need Him. And I am praying for our nation, for our leaders, and for individuals I come in contact with to be open to a life changing encounter with Almighty God! Nothing less than a personal encounter with God will change our hearts. Nothing else will change what comes out of our mouths.

Dear God,
You are the Creator of languages, the God of Words. You are the God of Truth. You send Your Word and it does not return to You void. You only have to speak a word, and things happen. No one but You can do this. But even so, our words have power too - the power to build up or break down, to heal or to wound, to curse or to bless.
The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences. Prov 18:21 NLT
And the tongue is a flame of fire. It is a whole world of wickedness, corrupting your entire body. It can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself. James 3:6 NLT
Jesus said: ".. For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. The good person out of his good treasure brings forth good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure brings forth evil. I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” Matt 12:34-37 ESV
Lord, we know that we stumble too, for none of us is sinless. Please forgive us and help us to glorify You with our words, as well as deeds.
We are taken aback at the multitude of bad and evil words floating around us, especially in the media and the social media. So many curses, accusations, swearing and lies. The media have so much power. Right now it feels as if there is a civil war (of words) in the country. It scares us! Lord God, please help!
We pray that You will stop the war of words that divide, destroy, slander and promote lies and deceptions, and that You replace those with truth and all good things that will build and heal and bless.
Ps 46:8-11 Come, behold the works of the Lord .. He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and shatters the spear; He burns the chariots with fire.
“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!”
The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.
Thank You, in Jesus' Name, amen.
Amen, Malva!
Gen 32:24, 26, 29 So Jacob was left alone, and a Man wrestled with him till daybreak.... Then the Man said, “Let Me go, for it is daybreak.” But Jacob replied, “I will not let You go unless You bless me.”.. Jacob said, “Please tell me Your name.” But He replied, “Why do you ask My name?” Then He blessed him there.
Please Lord, we need encounters with You too, although it means we have to wrestle, because of our sinful nature. We pray for this country and the nations. Please bless us with Your mercy. Thank You that we are blessed more than Jacob, because we know Your Name, Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, the King of Heaven, Savior of all who believe in You. Amen.
