"As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds His people from this time forth and forever." Psalm 125:2, A song of ascents.
Greetings!
In Bible times, as pilgrims approached Jerusalem for the appointed feast days, the "Songs of Ascents" - Psalms 120 to 134 - were typically recited and sung. As the crowds literally ascended Jerusalem's mountains on their way to worship, imagine the excitement felt singing these very words! The throngs of people approached the great city, observed the mountains all around and realized the promise of God to forever surround His people just as those towering mountains.
What natural protection from the stormy winds of nature and the menacing winds of war these mountains provided Jerusalem. This is a wonderful real-life picture of God's assurance of safety, security, and shalom promised to Israel and all believers! No matter the daily circumstances, we stand firm and secure, surrounded by the loving protection of our Lord.
As one of Jerusalem's watchmen, YOU are part of the spiritual mountain God is raising up to prayerfully protect His city, nation, and people. As we journey ever higher through His Holy Spirit toward His promised New Jerusalem, your continued prayers for and with the Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem are needed and appreciated. Make sure to respond to our appeal to be part of the 'mountain of prayer' for Jerusalem at the end of this email and to join us in prayer for these news items.
