Give ADONAI the glory due His Name;
Worship ADONAI in holy splendor.
The voice of ADONAI is over the waters
The GOD of glory thunders,
ADONAI over rushing waters,
The voice of ADONAI is power,
The voice of ADONAI in splendor.
The voice of ADONAI flashes fiery flames;
The voice of ADONAI rocks the desert,
ADONAI convulses the Kadesh Desert.
ADONAI sits enthroned over the flood!
ADONAI sits enthroned as king forever!
May ADONAI give strength to his people!
May ADONAI bless his people with shalom!
- Psalm 29:1-3,7-8,10-11
If you have ever experienced the shaking and rolling of a strong earthquake, you know the feeling of helplessness. It is like walking on board a small boat being buffeted by strong waves. I grew up in an island and have travelled many times on small boats, and sometimes, the sea could be very rough. I also had the unfortunate experience of being in a 7 magnitude earthquake and it was horrifying. I also had a short scare of being in an earthquake in Tokyo, Japan, but am sure it could not even compare with a 9 magnitude earthquake and frequent strong tremors thereafter. I know the feeling of complete instability and constant rocking and I have seen the terror on the faces of people who were with me.
When I was young, I constantly struggled to survive from a debilitating sickness which doctors said, had no cure. I had been in three near plane crashes. I had been capsized at least twice from a small boat in deep sea. And I know how it feels to be threatened with a .45 caliber pistol pointed directly at my forehead by a military officer who thought he could do anything during martial law in the Philippines, even though I did absolutely nothing to offend him. I know how it feels to be subjected to mental torture by the military when they were in complete control of the situation. I know how it feels to be abandoned by those whom I love and by friends who I thought would stand by me.
In all these, only one person really stood by me completely – my LORD YESHUA. YESHUA is my security, stability and my immovable Rock. In my greatest moment of need, YESHUA told me, He and I are a majority!
It doesn’t really matter if you are filthy rich or if you possess several mansions, cars and almost every toy to play with. When calamity comes, your money can’t buy you security and stability. Most of all, it can’t buy you complete peace and joy, and especially love. All the material possessions will come to nothing. You can’t even eat the gold or diamonds! Man has placed value on the wrong things. If you don’t believe me, just try selling a gold bar or diamonds during a calamity.
In the end, only YESHUA matters. It was never about you or me or anybody. It is all about YESHUA! He is the only REDEEMER…
